Batilda Slyhexa's Teahouse of the October Moon
The building housing Batilda Slyhexa's Teahouse of the October Moon was won at an auction held at the Cape Cod Miniature Society's annual workshop day in September of 2010. It had been the table prize at the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts at the table of the president at the Castles and Cottages Convention. In other words, it has a HISTORY. Oh my.
Who would inhabit it? Its smallish size required something cozy. Why not a teahouse? Batilda Slyhexa, resident witch, presides. However, Batilda has a ferocious personality so beware. She does an an incorrigible sweet tooth and keeps a veritable sweet shop on hand at all times. There is no other chair in the room for guests and that's just how she likes it. Five companions do keep her company: the little gourd with his Halloween bag, her pet dragon, her besom, her jack o'lantern and the very chair on which she sits. Conversation ranges from the refined to the ribald. She nailed her old pet dragon's head up on the wall where it periodically warms the room with its breath. She also has a weakness for all things mini and so one corner of her tearoom is fairly taken up with a large, haunted witch house. Batilda can be a bit sentimental and when she is, she leafs through her photo album of witch escapades. And when it's time for tea, the pot pours itself. How's that for service?
