The procession winding its way out of the Qil’a on Ashura, the 10th of Moharram. At the forefront are the ‘Alams, followed by the Zuljana (a ceremonial horse used only for religious occasions), and finally the red Zari, a giant, tin-foil replica of the Shrine of Imam Hussein in Karbala, Iraq. This Zari, also known as a taziya, is taken from the Qil'a to a field in the village where it is buried by the public.
